Welcome to Alan IF!

Print

Alan is a tool for creating works of Interactive Fiction, a.k.a text adventures. It is easy to use. It's focus has always been on the authoring aspects.

Alan is in the process of moving towards version 3, and has entered alpha state. This means that no incompatible changes are planned before release. So unless severe bugs or problems are found during alpha and beta phases, games produced with an alpha version should work even after release. So Alan V3 is now ready for supported production work.

Another move...

Print

The Alan IF website has just been converted to another CMS (Content Management System). MiaCMS seemed to be dying, so we made the jump to Joomla. Joomla seems to be the most promising descendant of Mambo (from which MiaCMS also sprung), with a lot of extensions. The move was actually quite painless once the database migration of the articles was figured out. And of course the layout had to be redone as well. But that also turned out quite nice, don't you think?

What They Say

"[the game] does not represent the real capabilities of the Alan Language but does demonstrate Alan's amazing ability to allow someone who has never done an iota of computer programming of any kind to produce SOMETHING within a few weeks!"
Eric Mayer (on his game HeBGB Horrors)
